Acceptable Use Policy
What you may and may not create with RoomMaker AI, how we check prompts, photos and generated images, how to report content, and how we enforce the rules.
Last updated: 2026-10-08
RoomMaker AI (“RoomMaker AI”, “we”, “us”) provides AI tools that turn photos of rooms, homes and gardens into design concepts. This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) applies to everything created, uploaded or stored through roommakerai.org, and sets out our content standards, how we moderate, how to report content and how we enforce these rules. By using RoomMaker AI you agree to this Policy, which forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. Scope
This Policy covers every kind of content on RoomMaker AI:
- Prompts — the instructions and descriptions you type into the design tools and the RoomMaker Agent.
- Uploaded images — photos, sketches and floor plans you upload.
- Generated images — AI-generated designs, renders and edited photos.
- Agent conversations — messages you send to the RoomMaker Agent assistant.
2. Prohibited content
RoomMaker AI is a design tool for homes and spaces, built to be appropriate for a general audience. You may not use it to generate or upload any of the following six categories of content:
- Pornography / NSFW content — nudity, sexual or sexually suggestive imagery of any kind, including implied nudity and fetish content, whether in an uploaded photo or a requested design.
- Violence / gore — graphic violence, blood, injuries, torture, corpses, weapons used against people, and imagery that glorifies or encourages self-harm or suicide.
- Hate speech — hate symbols, extremist insignia and slogans, slurs, and content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
- Child-unsafe content (CSAM) — any sexual content involving minors and any content that sexualizes or endangers children. Ordinary children’s rooms and nurseries are fine; images of children’s bodies are not.
- Deepfakes / impersonation — the likeness of real, identifiable people such as celebrities, politicians and other public figures placed into images, and any content that impersonates a real person, brand or organization.
- Copyright / trademark infringement — copyrighted characters, brand logos, trademarks and other protected works you don’t have the rights to, including photos of properties or designs you aren’t allowed to use.
2.1 Zero tolerance
The following are actioned immediately, lead to a permanent ban and may be reported to the authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where required by law:
- Child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving minors.
- Content that promotes or facilitates terrorism, violent extremism or mass violence.
- Content inciting genocide or ethnic hatred.
- Non-consensual sexual or intimate imagery of real people, including deepfakes.
2.2 Other prohibited conduct
- Uploading photos of other people’s homes or of people without permission, or photos you don’t have the right to use.
- Using AI-generated images to misrepresent a real property — for example presenting a virtually staged or redesigned room as its actual condition in a listing without the disclosure your local rules require.
- Trying to get around our safety systems — for example with misspellings, coded words or “jailbreak” prompts.
- Automated or bulk use of the Service, reselling access, or using the Service’s inputs or outputs to train, fine-tune or benchmark competing AI models.
- Anything illegal where you live or where we operate.
3. How we moderate
Every AI request on RoomMaker AI passes through automated checks before anything is generated or shown.
3.1 Automated review
- Account check — paused or suspended accounts can’t run AI features.
- Prompt check, before generation — every prompt is screened on our servers against a blocklist that we keep updating (it also catches spaced-out and look-alike spellings), and then by a safety model that reads the intent of the request. Blocked prompts never reach an image model and never use credits. Messages to the RoomMaker Agent are screened against the same blocklist.
- Image check, before generation — uploaded photos, sketches and plans are reviewed by an image safety model before the image model sees them.
- Output check, before display — every generated image is reviewed by an image safety model before it is shown to you or saved. An image that fails is discarded and the credits for it are returned.
- Safety models — prompt and image review uses Google’s Gemini Flash model with our own policy instructions. If the safety checks are unavailable, requests are blocked rather than let through.
3.2 Human review and records
- Blocked requests, safety-model verdicts and user reports are logged and reviewed by our team.
- Reports are reviewed by a person before any action beyond the automatic steps is taken.
- We keep moderation records for at least 12 months.
3.3 Severity levels
- L1 — Critical (child safety, terrorism): blocked automatically; permanent ban; reported where required.
- L2 — High (sexual content, graphic violence, hate, deepfakes): blocked automatically; content removed; account paused or suspended.
- L3 — Medium (copyright or trademark issues, attempts to bypass filters): blocked or removed; warning.
- L4 — Low (borderline content reported by users): reviewed; removed if it breaks this Policy.
4. Reporting
Generated images on RoomMaker AI are private to the account that created them; we don’t publish user creations. If you come across content created with RoomMaker AI that breaks this Policy — for example an image shared elsewhere, anything involving child safety, or an image that infringes your rights — please report it:
- Email — send support@roommakerai.org the image or a link to it and a short description of the problem.
- Support ticket — signed-in users can also open a ticket with the Contact support button on the design tools.
We keep the identity of people who report confidential, review every report on its merits, and act on reports that are deliberately false or abusive.
5. Response times
- L1 — Critical: first response and resolution within 24 hours.
- L2 — High: first response within 2 business days, resolution within 5 business days.
- L3 / L4: first response within 5 business days, resolution within 10 business days.
6. Enforcement
Depending on how serious a violation is and whether it is repeated, we may:
- Block the request — the prompt, photo or image is rejected and no credits are used.
- Remove content — delete generated images or uploads from the account.
- Pause AI features — repeated blocked requests pause AI features on the account for 24 hours automatically.
- Suspend the account — temporarily or permanently, with remaining credits forfeited where the violation is serious.
- Report to authorities — for zero-tolerance violations, and cooperate with lawful investigations.
7. Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, email support@roommakerai.org within 30 days of the decision with your account email and what happened. Someone who wasn’t involved in the original decision will review it within 10 business days and reply with the outcome.
8. Changes to this Policy
We update this Policy as our tools and the law change. We’ll post the new version here with a new date and announce material changes on the site at least 15 days before they take effect. Continuing to use RoomMaker AI after that means you accept the updated Policy.
